Privacy policy

Stemlet collects no data.
Your songs are split on your iPhone and never leave it unless you share them. No analytics, no tracking, no ads and no account.
Who this covers
This policy covers the Stemlet app for iPhone and this website. Stemlet is made by Mo, an independent developer, who also makes Trimlet. Questions go to the address on the support page.
What Stemlet collects
Nothing. Stemlet has no analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising and no third-party tracking code. There is no account and nothing to sign in to. Stemlet doesn’t send anything about you, your music or how you use it to me or to anyone else.
On the App Store, Stemlet’s privacy label says Data Not Collected.
One thing is Apple’s, not Stemlet’s: if you’ve turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone’s Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with developers. Apple collects them, not Stemlet, and they don’t identify you. You can turn this off at any time in that setting.
Your songs
Splitting happens on your iPhone, with a separation model that’s built into the app. Nothing is uploaded, and splitting works without a connection.
When you choose a song or a video, Stemlet makes a copy inside the app and works on that copy; the original is never changed. The copy and its stems are kept on your iPhone, in the app, until you delete the song from your Library.
Your music only leaves your iPhone when you send it somewhere yourself, for example by exporting a stem to another app or saving it to a cloud folder in Files. What happens to it then is up to that app or service.
If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, your Stemlet songs and stems may be included in that backup like any other app’s files. That’s handled by Apple and your backup settings, not by Stemlet.
What’s kept on your iPhone
To count your three free songs, Stemlet keeps a short code made from each song’s audio, so the same song isn’t counted twice. It’s stored on your iPhone only, and it isn’t sent anywhere.
The purchase
The one-time purchase is made through the App Store, and Apple processes it. Stemlet never sees your name, Apple Account, payment details or location. Apple tells the app only whether this Apple Account owns the purchase, so it knows to let you keep splitting. Restore purchase asks Apple the same question. Apple’s privacy policy covers the payment.
Stemlet uses the internet only for that, and to download a file you pick from iCloud Drive or another cloud folder in Files. Both go through your iPhone’s own services, not to me.
If you rate or review Stemlet, that happens on the App Store, under Apple’s terms.
If you email me
If you write to hello@postale.day or use Send feedback in the app, I receive your email address, your message and anything you attach (Send feedback adds the app and iOS versions). I use them only to reply, never for marketing, and I don’t share them. Ask and I’ll delete our conversation.
This website
This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers, and it doesn’t load anything from other sites. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes the technical information needed to deliver pages, such as your IP address, and keeps it briefly for security. Cloudflare’s privacy policy covers that.
Children
Stemlet collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If Stemlet ever needs to collect anything, the policy will say so first, and so will the App Store privacy label.
